The cast of The Rookie has issued an apology for the sharp cliffhanger ending to Season 8. The audience had been left in suspense after the last scene dropped out. Creator Alexi Hawley confirmed at the convention that Season 9's first episode will be extended above the usual length. Nathan Fillion said that filming for Season Nine starts on August 5.
