Aldi has reversed its self-serve checkout policy after reports of more troublesome encounters with customers. The policy, which allowed staff to remain nearby for customers using self-checkout machines, was cancelled nationwide following complaints of abuse and threats. The move comes after multiple media outlets highlighted the issue, including SMH.com.au, Nine.com.au, and Yahoo News Australia.
