Isaac Heeney, a player currently under suspension from the Sydney Swans, claimed the club's best and fairest award. The award was revealed amid changes to the Swans' 'best and fairest' criteria. Sexual assault advocates raised objections to Heeney's remarks, calling it inappropriate. The controversy followed Heeney's first public appearance after his suspension, where he expressed happiness about winning the award. The incident has sparked debate about the club's handling of player conduct and the criteria for such awards.
