An hobbyist observer using Google Maps came across a big rounded depression in northern Quebec. Experts at Quebec’s geological survey verified it is a enormous meteorite impact crater roughly 390 million years near Lake Mistassini. The scar on the landscape closely matches other confirmed craters and points to a cataclysmic long-ago blow. Satellite images were mapped against field data to validate the finding.
