George Clooney spoke out on the death of Presley Gerber, 27, the son of his longtime friends Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber. Clooney called the loss "the worst thing that could ever happen," describing it as devastating for the family.

Around the same time, Clooney and his wife Amal attended the Albies ceremony. The couple made sure the focus stayed on the award recipients rather than themselves throughout the event. Those in attendance said the two stayed out of the spotlight as the evening's honorees received recognition.
