Travellers now solely use the Coquihalla Highway, bypassing the closure. The fire near Hope is burning northeast of the Coquihalla interchange, producing thick smoke. Smoke is thick and easy to see, harming visibility. A second blaze broke out south of Boston Bar on Tuesday. This second fire covers 300 hectares. It prompted officials to close Highway 1 in the same area. Two key routes into southern BC are now closed.
