A British Airways Boeing 777 on a transatlantic route to Chicago declared an emergency on October 5, 2026, after dropping roughly 27,000 feet in altitude. The aircraft diverted and landed back at London without incident. Cabin depressurization was identified as the reason for the emergency.

A passenger on board reported a sudden drop in altitude and pressure during the incident. The frightening experience unfolded over the Atlantic before the crew chose to turn the plane around. The flight's diversion was reported by multiple outlets including Sky News, CBS News, and The Guardian.
